Ahhh Tim Allen was riding high on the fame from his hit TV show, Home Improvement (I had a hard time deciding whether or not to make a drug abuse joke here, I decided to be mature and not mention it) when he landed what may be his best theatrical role, a role originally written with Bill Murray in mind, Santa Claus. This my friends is the tale of how Tim Allen saved Christmas.

Its Christmas Eve and Scott Calvin has plans to spend it with his son Charlie. After showing up late for the divorced parent child exchange, things continue down the burnt turkey/Christmas dinner at Denny’s highway. Back at home they close the night by reading Twas The Night Before Christmas. Then out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, Scott goes outside to see whats the matter…and thats all the rhyming for tonight. Scott startles Santa who falls off the roof to his death, kinda morbid but things pick up once Charlie leads his dad up on the roof to Santas sleigh. From there presents are delivered and laughs are had. After reaching the North Pole we find out that By putting on the suit and entering the sleigh Scott has fallen victim to The Santa Clause. Over the next year theres laughs and tears but everything works out in the end…until the sequel…or the next sequel…

Celebrating twenty seasons of Christmas cheer next year, The Santa Claus has held up well over the years and become a holiday classic. Its never Christmas at our house until we’ve watched and we’ll watch it again and again before December is over. For those reasons and more, The Santa Clause get a ranking of: My Wife’s Favorite Christmas Movie. Till next time friends, stay entertained.
