Tonights discussion brings us back to the eighties. Ahhh the eighties, a simpler time, a time when nearly every horror movie guaranteed you would see some T&A. A time when movies tried to convince teens that drinking, drugs and sex underage would lead to a horrible death at the hands of a deranged psychopath…good times…good times…

Lets see…where to begin…(deep breath) counselors are murdered, camp closes, years pass, camp reopens, locals warn “you’re all gonna die”, counselors play slap and tickle, people die, counselors play strip monopoly, more people die, lights go out, people die, turns out the locals were right, nearly everyone dies except Alice, Mrs. Voorhees is revealed as the killer (I assume you’ve seen this film or Scream), she tries to kill Alice, Alice gets away, she tries again, Alice knocks her out and runs away, she tries again and Alice beheads her and seeks out the safety of a canoe in the middle of the lake. Thats about it, well there is that last gotcha moment.

Friday the 13th finished opening the door that Halloween had started knocking on two years prior. Its often credited with redefining the genre. Its survived many, many sequels, been to New York, Hell, space and the future, crossed over to battle Freddy Krueger and even been remade. It was quite possibly the first movie with a twist ending that I ever watched and for all those reasons and so many more Friday The 13th gets a rating of: Watch It On A Rainy Night. Till next time friends, stay entertained.
