We’re The Millers

First off, I am a huge fan of slightly over the top, raunchy, potentially, or even blatantly, offensive comedies. They are my favorite type of comedy and one of my favorite types of film. Are they the embodiment of cinematic art? No. Do they offer a good time and a chance to take your mind off of anything that may be bothering you? Absolutely. They serve a very specific purpose, to make the viewer laugh and this film does just that.

We’re The Millers begins with a vaguely formulaic start where some over the top event causes an issue that must be resolved in some fashion. Once that is established and the main players are introduced, a ridiculous solution is proposed and then pursued. If you’ve seen the previews then you know the basic premise, small time drug dealer recruits fake family to travel to Mexico to pick up and deliver pot for drug kingpin and hijinks ensue. Luckily for us, the hijinks are hilarious and the plot formula doesn’t get boring.

Jennifer Anniston is, as usual, a highlight in a comedy. Since she has begun to take part in raunchy R-Rated adult comedies, she seems right at home. Jason Sudeikis is a comedic force to be reckoned with as of late. He is a solid actor with some genuinely funny films under his belt. The supporting cast of Emma Roberts and the always superb Ed Helms really round out this cast nicely. Will Poulter downright steals every scene that he is in. Nick Offerman and Kathryn Hahn are hilarious as an offbeat conservative couple.

This film is not breaking any new ground. It will not change the face of cinema as we know it nor will it change the comedic landscape forever. It is, however, a hilarious film.it has a good, solid script with some great jokes that are expertly performed by a solid cast. This one is well worth your time and money.
